Dorset Park
History:
Dorset Park was one of the first neighbourhoods in the Town of Milton. The book Milton Streets published by the Milton Historical Society explains that Dorset Park was developed in 1973 by a British company named Wimpey Homes. Apparently the British firm chose the name Dorset Park in honour of Dorset County in England. This is a curious connection as Dorset, England is on the English Channel while Milton is not near any large body of water. There are some interesting rock formations however in Dorset County which may have had a resemblance to Milton’s landmark escarpment. Whatever the story may be, it is history now as Dorset Park paved the way for many Milton neighbourhoods to follow.
