On Saturday, May 28 from 11:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Canoe Heads for Kids will welcome back participants and supporters to the waterfront for their annual epic 15-km urban portage and paddle to benefit Amici Camping Charity. Participants will portage west for 7.5 km to Sir Casimir Gzowski Park and then paddle back to the Harbourfront Canoe & Kayak Centre by 4:30 pm. New this year, supporters will be able to participate from home by subbing out the 15-km canoe trip and completing a 15-km activity of their choice, such as running, walking, biking, kayaking or hiking, or 15 camp-related activities.
The event aims to raise $250,000 to ultimately reach $2-million since the inaugural event in 2006! Since 1966, Amici Camping Charity has sparked change in the lives of over 3,000 kids in financial need ages 7-17, many of who are new Canadians who get to enjoy the traditional Canadian camping experience for the first time.
