The next Toronto Comic Jam will be Sunday October 27, 7pm at The Cameron House. There will also be a Celebration of Life held that evening for Thomas John King starting at 8:00 pm.
We’ll be having our regular event of drawing comics while people will be sharing their memories of Tom. I know it may seem weird to be drawing while people talk about a dear friend who passed but I think that’s always been symbolic of the Comic Jam; strangers talking and becoming friends while indulging their passion for art.
I remember going to the Jam years ago, too shy to talk to anyone but eavesdropping on every conversation. I remember listening to Tom talk about how house paint was used to paint the animation cells of HEAVY METAL to cut down on costs! The Comic Jam has always been about talking and bonding over a shared love of comics and art and I can think of no better way to honour his memory.
Please come to this event to draw comics or to celebrate the memory of Tom or hopefully both. If you are unable to make it in person, you can watch over zoom and even be given the opportunity to share your own fond memories with everyone else. Email the Toronto Comic Jam for the zoom link.
