Springdale
History:
Springdale is a master planned community developed in the 1990s. The developers utilized innovative marketing techniques such as promoting a theme for various sections of the neighbourhood. For instance there was the mountain theme were streets were named after famous mountains. Springdale was developed by a collection of Toronto’s top builders and featured twenty-six decorated model homes. There was something for everyone with detached homes, semi-detached homes, townhomes and multiplex homes. The advertising motto for the Springdale neighbourhood was “Come Home To Our Town.”
Overview:
Springdale is an established family oriented neighbourhood with an excellent selection of houses for the first time home buyers. Neighbourhood landmarks include Springdale Square shopping plaza, the Stephen Llewellyn Trail, Springdale Forest, Trinity Common, and the William Osler Health Centre also known as the Brampton Civic Hospital. The Karol Bagh Plaza located at 1090-1098 Peter Robertson Blvd off Torbram Road features many East Asian business, shops and restaurants.
Lifestyle:
Springfield Square is a large outdoor shopping plaza situated on the north side of Boivard Drive E., at Mountainash Road. The anchor tenant is a Fortinos supermarket. Karol Bagh Plaza features many East Asian shops, restaurants and businesses.
Trinity Common Mall off Boivard Drive, just east of Highway 410, is a large outdoor shopping centre over 850,000 square feet of retail space and more than 60 outlets, Anchor tenants include Metro supermarket, Canadian Tire, Home Depot, Winners and a massive Cineplex SilverCity movie theatre complex.
Homes:
Springdale homes were built in the 1990s. There are detached homes with 30,40 and 50 foot frontages, as well as semi-detached homes, townhomes and duplex homes. Many of these homes have a Neo-Colonial or Tudor Revival look. All the homes are brick. Some have stucco accents. Each home has a one or two car garage depending on the size of the home.
Arts:
Rose Theatre located in downtown Brampton at 1 Theatre Lane is a popular performing arts venue with a busy year-round events calendar. The Garden Square adjacent to the theatre hosts: a local concert series, as well as movie nights, and a popular farmers’ market Some of the annual signature events held at Garden Square include National Indigenous Peoples Day, Pride in the Square, and a New Year’s Eve Concert.
