Midland Park
History:
Midland Park was originally part of the estate of David and Mary Thomson. The Thomson family were the first European settlers in Scarborough, emigrating here in 1799 from Scotland. The Thomson’s had 11 children. One of these children, Richard Thomson owned the original farmhouse in this neighbourhood on Oakley Boulevard. The present day neighbourhood was built between 1959-1962. Midland Park was the brainchild of developer Curran Hall and architect, Edward (Ted) Ross who sought to build a modernist village with next generation family homes. The mid-century modern house designs proved immensely popular with families and the subdivision sold out quickly. These homes have stood the test of time and look as good today as when they were first built.
