Victoria Manor
History:
Victoria Manor is situated on land that was formerly part of the neighbouring Victoria Square hamlet to the north; hence the Victoria name was used for this new subdivision. The area where homes now stand was once farmland. The last farmer in the area was Cecile Nichols who continued to farm here right up until 1974. Cecile’s father Louis built two farmhouses, one for he and his wife Harriet and one for his son Cecile.
Overview:
Victoria Manor is conveniently located at Major Mackenzie Drive and Woodbine Avenue. Black placards with gold colour enameied script with the words Victoria Manor are affixed to stone gateway markers off Victoria Square Boulevard. The focal point of the neighbourhood is Vine Cliff Park which is the largest greenspace in the neighbourhood and abuts the popular Sir Wilfrid Laurier Public School that attracts many young families to this neighbourhood.
Homes:
Victoria Manor houses were built between 2005 and 2013. They are all brick with front porches and garages. Many of these homes have garages at the rear to keep the sidewalks pedestrian friendly.Victoria Manor houses are modest in size compared to many Markham subdivisions which also means they are a little more affordable by Markham standards. They are mostly detached and semi-detached as well as link style homes which share a common foundation. Your Realtor should be able to tell you which is which as semi-detached, townhomes and link style houses all look very similar. Many of the detached lots have a 40 foot frontage. All houses have at least a single car garage attached or built-in garage. Different roof patterns, brick colours, and exterior features make for a pretty streetscape with alot of variety.
